About the role
We are looking for a Senior QA Lead / QA Manager with a strong background in software testing, both manual and automated. This is a leadership role. You will not primarily execute tests yourself. Instead, you will manage a group of testers on large, complex projects, represent the testing process to the customer, define the test strategy, and set priorities.
The role starts with a lead position on a large client project. Over time, there is a clear path to becoming the company’s central QA authority: leading testers across the organisation, building a QA community, and defining the testing processes, guidelines, and standards that set the direction for all testers at xitee.
Senior QA Lead / QA Manager
Project leadership
- Lead and coordinate a team of manual and automation testers on large projects
- Quickly understand large and complex systems and business domains
- Define the test strategy and test plans for each project, including scope, levels, types, environments, and entry and exit criteria
- Set and manage testing priorities based on risk, business impact, and delivery dates
- Plan test capacity and allocate testers to workstreams
- Track quality metrics and report test status, risks, and quality levels to project management
Customer and stakeholder communication
- Represent the testing process in meetings with the customer
- Explain test strategy, progress, risks, and quality status clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Negotiate scope, priorities, and trade-offs with the customer and internal teams
- Hands-on quality oversight
- Review test strategies, test cases, and automation approaches created by the team
- Guide the team on test design, risk-based testing, and automation architecture where needed
- Step in for hands-on work only when necessary (for example, to unblock critical areas or to review)
Team development and processes (later phase)
- Build and develop a community of testers across the company
- Define and refine testing processes, guidelines, and standards
- Set the direction for testing practices across all projects and teams
- Coach and develop testers, including career growth and skill development
Requirements
Must have
- Several years of experience in software testing, with at least 2 to 3 years in a lead or management role
- Strong background in manual testing: test design, test strategy, risk-based testing, and defect management
- Solid understanding of test automation: frameworks, tooling, CI/CD integration, and the trade-offs between manual and automated testing
- Proven experience leading and managing a team of testers on large or multi-stakeholder projects
- Ability to quickly grasp large systems and define a testing approach for them
- Confident communicator who can present test status and risks to customers and senior stakeholders
- Strong prioritisation and decision-making skills under pressure
Nice to have
- Experience with agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban) and in client-facing environments
- Experience defining QA processes, guidelines, or a testing centre of excellence
- Experience mentoring or building communities of practice
- Knowledge of test management tools (for example, Jira, Xray, TestRail) and automation tools relevant to our stack
Languages:
- English – daily use
- German – is a big advantage
And what can you expect from us?
- Hybrid work from home and from office
- Bonus system (possibility of yearly bonus)
- Opportunity to work with a wide range of modern technologies
- Flexibility, a certain degree of independence and work on international projects
- Modern offices on Náměstí Republiky in the centre of Prague (Burzovní palác next to shopping centre Kotva in Nám. Republiky) and modern offices in the centre of Brno (CTP Park Vlněná Clubco nearby the main train station and Vaňkovka)
- Very friendly team and lots of company activities
- And many other benefits (language courses, Multisport card, Pluralsight online training, sick days, coffee and snacks in the office…)
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
